Home Activity for Advent : We have copies of the weekly family worship activity that you can start today to prepare you and your family for celebrating Christmas. They are located on the table in the Narthex. Stop by and pick up a copy – you will need 6 candles and a wreath.
Parents of Church School Students: Visit the Antiochian Christian Education website to view the new standards and the required knowledge your child is expected to have at each grade level. Go to www.antiochian.org . Look for Departments button at the top of the page and click on Christian Education. Then look at the menu on the left for Knowing Your Faith. Look for grade level and parent letter.
How to Raise a Faithful Child: At the recent Christian Education Conference at the Antiochian Village , Sandy Mitchell, gave a workshop on ways children can share their faith. Before they can share their faith, however, they must be raised faithful. Here are some of her suggestions for how you can raise faithful children.
Teach them to pray
Teach them to pray
Teach them to praise God
Teach them the faith
Teach them the Bible
Teach them to give of themselves
Prepare them to suffer
Teach them to give thanks to God for all things – in both joy & sorrow
Teach them to give thanks to God for each moment, each breath.
Teach them to seek comfort in the Church
Teach them to seek joy in the Church
Teach them to have an “attitude of gratitude”
